From Kelman Technologies to Katalyst

Throughout our history, Katalyst Data Management has been rooted in geophysical data services. Originally founded as Kelman Technologies, Inc – a geophysical data processing firm – the company rebranded to Katalyst in 2012 to better represent our subsurface data management services. Today, Katalyst focuses exclusively on data management services and digital transformation of E&P assets.

• 1985: Kelman Technologies, Inc is founded in Calgary, Canada as a geophysical data processing firm
• 1996: Kelman begins offering geophysical data management services
• 2001: Seismic data management services expand to United States
• 2010: Kelman gains an international footprint and data management expertise by acquiring Oil Data Transcription Service from Iron Mountain
• 2011: Kelman divests seismic processing business to focus on data management
• 2012: Kelman rebrands to Katalyst to represent subsurface data management services and industry leadership
• 2013: Katalyst launches SeismicZone.com, an ecommerce site for marketing and licensing proprietary seismic data
• 2013: Katalyst expands services globally by acquiring UK tape transcription business from Iron Mountain
• 2014: Katalyst transforms UK operation into full-service iGlass datacenter
• 2015: Katalyst continues worldwide growth by acquiring SpectrumData’s seismic data management division in Asia-Pacific
• 2016: Katalyst enhances the iGlass solution with ProjectDataStor for interpretation data
• 2017: Katalyst launches subsurface data management consulting services in Calgary
• 2018: Katalyst launches well file and well log scanning “paper to digits” service
• 2019: Katalyst opens subsurface datacenter in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
