HOUSTON, Texas (November 23, 2015) – Mere months since their market entry into the Asia-Pacific, Katalyst Data Management, through its Australian subsidiary KDM SpectrumData, is pleased to announce that it has taken on a major oil and gas seismic data management project for the Geological Survey of Queensland and the Department of Natural Resources and Mines in Australia.
The project, expected to take nine months to complete, involves the reconciliation of over 30,000 seismic lines recorded in the state of Queensland since the 1960s. The reconciliation involves the sourcing, capture and updating of seismic survey data including paper reports, SEGY files, paper sections and other material, in order to create and update the State’s collection of data to further exploration in the State.

It is no small task and requires in-depth data management experience in the area of seismic acquisition, exploration and data capture, and Katalyst is very much up to the task.”
The data produced from this project will be used to create a state-based loadable SEGY dataset which has long been desired by explorers in the State. Queensland onshore oil and gas exploration has long been a very active area for both domestic and international explorers. This project will serve to not only improve accessibility to this data but also will help improve the large scale interpretation of the State’s subsurface on a regional basis.
Once the project is complete it is anticipated that Katalyst will include the massive dataset in its industry leading SeismicZone marketplace (www.seismiczone.com) for explorers to locate and download the data.
